Dear Oakland Business Partner,

Every year the Oakland Merchants Leadership Forum (OMLF), in partnership with the City of Oakland’s Cultural Arts and Marketing Department, distributes 80,000 shopping bags to all of Oakland’s Commercial districts. This year we are partnering with Oakland Recycles, OneCalifornia Foundation and PG&E to create and distribute 100,000 reusable bags to these businesses. We invite you to become a sponsor of this exciting new sustainable, local, Shop Oakland Campaign by offering you several sponsorship opportunities.

This campaign has many elements with multiple sponsorship opportunities. Our campaign elements are described below, and the sponsor benefits matrix is on page 3.

Website and Marketing Materials
The City of Oakland launched the ShopOakland.com web site where customers can search for products and businesses, and learn more about Oakland’s diverse shopping opportunities. This website is advertised on all campaign marketing materials including AC Transit bus shelters, newspaper ads, inside 800 AC Transit buses, and event invitations. As a sponsor your logo and link will be on www.shopoakland.com and on www.omlf.org.

November Shop Oakland Kick-off/VIP Reception
Each year OMLF kicks off the holiday shopping season with a reception for Oakland Merchants, merchant leaders and key City officials. This event will precede a larger shopping event (see below). As a $500.00 sponsor your benefits include having a banner at this VIP Reception, as a $1000, $2500 or $5000 sponsor your benefits include having an informational table at this VIP Reception.

100,000 Reusable Shop Oakland Bags
OMLF will design, produce and deliver to Oakland Merchants 100,000 reusable shopping bags with a prominent Oakland Logo that will be distributed to their customers for free. As a $5,000 sponsor you could have your logo on 100,000 reusable bags.

BYOB Campaign (Bring Your Own Bag)
In an effort to encourage consumers to reuse these bags, we will also launch the BYOB campaign. This will include window decals for merchants to place in their windows reminding consumers to bring their own bags. As a $5,000.00 sponsor this bag would include your logo.

With this new sustainable local shopping campaign, OMLF and our partners will help Oakland recapture some of the $1 billion in retail dollars that leaves the city each year.
